Classic launch on deck 16' light wooden modern construction.
"Gipsy-Witch" is a spectacular project, showing what is possible to do today
as the most soft and comfortable yacht of this size, fast and easy to sail,
efficient up wind, with perfect balance in all conditions of sea and wind, faster
than any classic yacht existing, faster than the most famous schooners of the
past, fast as a modern yacht.
Lines of hull are very classic but calculated to have the less possible immersed
area for the best speed possible; beamy and few draft, the two centerboards
give perfect balance all down in light wind for up wind road, half down for
beam-wind and high speed, only the stern one down to down wind road easy manoeuvre
in harbour with the twin engines plus the help of the half down main centerboard.
The two centerboards are manoeuvrable by electric winches from the wheel place.
Very classic schooner rig, but totally modernized by proportions of sails for
maximum efficiency, by carbon masts and spars veneered of sitka wood, by rails
and cars on masts, by hydraulic winches, and by "vectran" sails with forced
battens needing a minimum of crew for cruising (a little bit more for classic
regattas of course!).
The deck is classic teak planking on ply beautiful varnished wood for skylights,
hatches, hand-rails, etc, soft white paint on vertical parts and deck framing,
nickel plated fitting and hardware, mixing classic style with practical maintain.
The layout is done in a very classic colonial marine style light modern technologies
of classic joinery made with the wonderful "cedrela" wood from South America
(orange color), creamy white bulkheads and ceiling painting, classic planking
on sole, nice clear canvas and leather, bronze hardware and lamps.
Life organization on board is around the big saloon with diner corner for 10
guests, and a deck guests cockpit for 14 people a big crew cockpit, very comfortable
and protected is on the poop-deck at stern.
The main entrance is at stern, giving a huge companionway with a very big navigation
desk on port. Just behind is the door of the big owners apartment with sofa,
king-size bed, desk, and big bathroom Going in front is a large passage with
captain cabin, and 3 guests cabins each one with a private head and shower before
to arrive to the big saloon.
In the front part, after the saloon, is another passage with engine-rooms each
side, giving a very easy maintain of all mechanics by double doors, and full
head-room Just after is the big professional galley on starboard, with a crew
saloon on port, and the crew companionway going to the bow are hostesses' cabin,
cook cabin, crew quarter, and two crew head and shower, including a laundry.
All sails, fenders, lines, etc. are in the very giant lazarette of the stern.
"Gipsy-Witch" the well named schooner ideal to travel on the seven seas, in
full comfort, but a witch because her exceptional speed possible very unusual
for a classic yacht! She is the best of the pure classic spirit and culture,
with the best of the most modern technologies charm and efficiency She is my
favourite, the ideal magic big schooner for "aristocratic schooner lovers",
capable of all roads, all cruises, all races Her size and style is inspired
by the famous schooners of the Turn of the Century, but her comfort and speed
are a lot better and futuristic.
